Major Chinese ferrosilicon producers raised their domestic and export prices last week based on increased demand from Chinese mills.

The smelters aren't expecting much, if any, export business, but wanted to keep the prices in alignment.

The export market is frozen on the expectations that the Chinese government will rescind the 25% export duty in January.

Analysts believe in order for the export suspension to take effect in January, the government will have to announce its decision no later than then end of November. "It takes about 45-days to implement."
