Brazilian iron ore export revenues down 6% in June

Iron ore exports from Brazil generated revenue of USD 2.59 billion in June down 5.7% from USD 2.75 billion in the year ago month.

Brazil shipped 26.1 MT of iron ore abroad in June, 0.9% more than the 25.9 MT exported in June 2012 and the average sale price decreased 6.5% to USD 99.2 per tonne from USD 106.2 per tonne. Iron ore has been Brazil's main export since 2000.

Export revenue from flat rolled steel products slipped 45% to USD 81.3 million as volumes sank 35.3% to 109,200 tonnes. The average sale price fell 15% to USD 744.3 per tonne.

Sales abroad of iron and semi manufactured steel products brought in USD 167 million in the sixth month of the year, a 47.4% drop YoY as volumes fell 40.4% to 319,900 tonnes and prices decreased 11.8% to USD 522.1 per tonne.
