India's Adani Enterprises Limited said last Thursday they will start the largest metallurgical complex of copper and other metals in the world in the next four weeks.
Felipe Williams, the head of the metals business at the company, said the smelting will begin in the coming weeks at the plant. The facility is just part of a first phase, and the company has got environmental approvals officially to increase its capacity.
When smelters in Asia are running in losses due to the copper supply not being stable, and it has led to negative TC/RCs, Adani's smelter is starting to operate. Felipe Williams mentioned it is a big challenge to start the business under negative TC/TCs, but that is a long-term opportunity.
TC/RCs, which stand for treatment and refining charges, are an important revenue source for smelters.
