AISI: US’ raw steel production in week ending Apr 5 slides m-o-m, y-o-y

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending April 5, 2025, the production of US’ raw steel totaled 1.656 million net tons, decreasing by 2.4% from the same period a week ago and by 2.4% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 74.4%, falling by 1.8% week on week and by 1.9% year on year. As of the week ending April 5, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ raw steel has amounted to 22.524 million short tons, sliding by 1.4% compared to the prior-year level. The capacity utilization rate was 74.5%, a year-on-year drop of 1.3%.
