India initiates AD investigation into met coke imports from 6 countries

India has launched an anti-dumping (AD) investigation into imports of low-ash metallurgical coal, or met coke, from Australia, China, Colombia, Indonesia, Japan, and Russia based on a request from the Indian Metallurgical Coke Manufacturers Association.
The association called for the investigation since they found more than double the imports over the past four years. It also found no difference in quality between imports and locally produced met coke.
India has imposed a quota for specific countries of low-ash met coke, and the quota from overseas is 1.4 million tons for the January to June period.
