Thailand's finished steel consumption increases in Jan y-o-y

According to the Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand (ISIT), Thailand consumed 1.45 million tons of finished steel in January, up by 2% year on year. Demand for flat and long products was around 893,900 tons and 551,000 tons, up by 1.9% and 2.3%, respectively.

In January, Thailand imported 1 million tons of finished steel, a year-on-year hike of 6.2%.

Due to the increase in imports, Thailand's finished steel production in January decreased to roughly 563,600 tons, down by 1.2% year on year. Among them, the production of flat and long products was 191,300 tons and 372,300 tons.

The consumption of many types of steel products was on the rise, while a few products were on the decline. For example, wire rod (down by 14.9% year on year), hot-rolled plate (down by 5.3% year on year), and galvanized plate (down by 7.3% year on year).
