Australia rejects US claims over aluminum exports

Australia has dismissed US concerns that its aluminum exports are damaging the American market, with Industry Minister Ed Husic arguing that US buyers would bear more costs for products. However, the US accuses Australia of breaking a verbal agreement to limit exports to a reasonable level after receiving a tariff exemption in 2018.
Don Farrell, Minister for Trade and Tourism, stated that the exports were approved by former President Joe Biden's administration.
Australia is seeking a new exemption from Trump’s 25% tariff, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese discussing the matter with Trump.
Meanwhile, the Australian government has pledged A$2 billion to help aluminum smelters transition to renewable energy.
