Regarding US President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum products, Brazilian media reported that under the instruction of Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, Brazilian government departments have prepared actions to respond to Trump's tariff increases. These actions include imposing tariffs on US imports and studying ways to strengthen cooperation with other BRICS countries to mitigate the impact of Trump's tariffs.
Brazil is a major supplier of semi-finished steel products to the US. Previously, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva criticized Trump's tariff measures. He stated that if Trump decides to impose tariffs on Brazilian products, Brazil will apply a reciprocal approach and impose tariffs on US imports.
