The Mediterranean Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters Association (ADMIB) announced that Turkish steel manufacturers will focus on low-carbon and value-added steel production in 2025 to expand their global market share.
In 2024, Turkey's steel exports grew by 8.7% to US$16 billion, though ADMIB did not disclose export tonnage.
Key strategies include innovation, sustainability, and market diversification, with continued efforts to develop eco-friendly projects and energy-efficient technologies.
Before the Section 232 tariffs under Trump’s first term, the US was a major destination for Turkish steel. Turkish producers now see the potential to regain competitiveness if the US imposes tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada. Meanwhile, the EU remains Turkey’s largest steel market, and Turkey plans to strengthen its presence in Africa in 2025.
