EU seeks to ban Russian aluminum imports

According to reports, the European Commission has proposed its 16th round of sanctions against Russia, targeting the import of Russian primary aluminum.
The ban will cover aluminum alloys if approved, with certain essential items potentially exempted. From January to November 2024, the EU imported approximately 330,000 tons of Russian primary aluminum and alloys, while the total import volume for 2023 exceeded 500,000 tons.
