Berge Bulk and BHP have teamed up for the first B100 biodiesel-powered iron ore shipment from Australia to China.
The Berge Lyngor successfully bunkered B100 biodiesel last month and is now delivering iron ore from Australia to China. The trial voyage marks the first time B100 biodiesel has been used in the iron ore trade between Australia and China. The voyage also represents Berge Bulk's first use of biodiesel on a voyage in the Pacific.
Berge Bulk plans to build and operate a zero Scope 1 emissions vessel by 2030 and achieve zero Scope 1 emissions fleetwide by 2050.
