On December 26, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan announced the steel demand forecast for the next fiscal year (January to March 2025).
The crude steel production, equivalent to the shipment volume, was expected to decrease by 2.4% to 20.93 million tons compared to the same period last year, the fifth consecutive quarter of decline. Steel demand was expected to remain subdued in the next financial year, reflecting subdued demand from the construction industry.
