South32 announces metals production in Q1 FY25

South32, a mining and metals company headquartered in Australia, reported that its aluminum production was 298,000 tons in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025 (the quarter ended September 30, 2024), rising by 5% compared to the previous quarter and by 3% from the same period a year ago.
Aluminum production at Hillside asset hiked, continuing to test its maximum technical capabilities. Brazil Aluminium and Mozal Aluminum increased low-carbon aluminum production by 12%.
In terms of alumina, the production dropped by 5.6% quarter on quarter and by 8.5% year on year, reaching 1.18 million tons.
During the period, nickel output slid by 25% quarter on quarter but grew by 3.6% year on year to 8,600 tons.
South32 maintains its production guidance for all operations for the fiscal year 2025.
