Turkey’s CRC imports experience y-o-y drop in Jan-Aug

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's cold-rolled coil (CRC) imports amounted to around 502,000 tons in the first eight months of this year, falling by 17% compared to the same period a year ago. The value of these imports dropped by 20% year on year to US$309 million.
Among them, the top three import sources were South Korea (around 148,000 tons, a year-on-year drop of 37%), China (around 110,000 tons, a year-on-year hike of 0.1%), and Russia (around 101,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 25%).
In August alone, Turkey imported around 79,000 tons of CRC, significantly rising by 54% month on month while falling by 21% year on year. The value generated by these imports was US$60.5 million, a month-on-month growth of 48% and a year-on-year reduction of 25%.
