Australian nickel miner Wyloo, owned by Andrew Forrest, has agreed to sell its low-carbon nickel on the Metalshub trading platform. Wyloo aims to establish a price index for green metals through this initiative.
In a joint statement on October 1, Wyloo and Metalshub mentioned that metal from Wyloo’s Kambalda operations in Western Australia will be available on the platform, though no specific launch date has been set.
Wyloo’s Kambalda operations are capable of producing around 10,000 metric tons of high-grade nickel every year.
In January, Wyloo announced that its Kambalda nickel operations would be in maintenance by the end of May to manage the impact of low nickel prices.
Metalshub, the trading platform where Wyloo planned to sell its low-carbon nickel, stated that it will provide buyers with detailed information about the metal’s production site, its ESG (environmental, social, and governance) credentials, and its carbon footprint.
