Mining Resources (MinRes), the company responsible for the Onslow Iron Ore project in Australia, completed its first shipment in May, bringing total exports to over 1 million tons. The company aims to achieve its targeted shipping capacity of 35 million tons annually by the second quarter of 2025.
The Onslow Iron Ore project is jointly owned by MinRes, China's Baowu Group, and South Korea's POSCO. Baowu Resources, a subsidiary of Baowu Group, is the project's largest buyer, holding negotiation rights for 20 million tons annually.
This month, a vessel named "ICONSHIP" departed from Ashburton Port in Western Australia, located just south of Onslow, and arrived at Ningbo Zhoushan Port in Zhejiang Province, China, on the 1st. The vessel unloaded 180,000 tons of "Silk Road Fines" iron ore, produced by the project, which was subsequently delivered to Zenith Steel Group in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province.
