Maersk reports global shipping delays due to Red Sea disruptions

Denmark's A.P. Moller-Maersk announced that disruptions in container shipping via the Red Sea have impacted its entire global network. Since December, shipping groups have rerouted vessels around Africa's Cape of Good Hope to avoid attacks by Houthi militants, leading to longer voyages and higher freight rates. Maersk warned that these challenges would persist in the coming months.
The disruptions have caused congestion at alternative routes and transshipment hubs critical for trade with Far East Asia, West Central Asia, and Europe. Ports across Asia, including Singapore, Australia, and Shanghai, are experiencing delays due to the rerouting and disrupted schedules.
Maersk's Oceania network has been particularly affected by congestion in Southeast Asian hubs, risking further delays at Australian ports due to vessel bunching. The ripple effects have also spread to Northeast Asia and Greater China ports.
