Turkey’s pig iron imports soar in May m-o-m

In May, Turkey’s pig iron imports hiked by 79% compared to the previous month but decreased by 23% from the same month a year ago to about 134,000 tons. Among them, Russia was the main import source, decreasing by 17% year on year to about 97,000 tons. Other import sources included Kazakhstan (about 15,000 tons), Ukraine (about 10,000 tons) and South Africa (about 10,000 tons).
In the first five months of this year, Turkey imported about 655,000 tons of pig iron, keeping almost flat from the same period a year ago; of which, the imports from Russia still accounted for the largest proportion of Turkey’s total pig iron imports.
