U.S. HRC imports fall in Apr m-o-m

According to preliminary data from the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. imports of hot rolled coils (HRC) totaled about 185,000 tons in April, a decrease of 2.6% from March and an increase of 41.5% from April 2023. By value, April HRC imports totaled US$165.7 million, compared with US$166.1 million in March and US$124.2 million a year ago.
The U.S. imported the largest amount of South Korean HRC in April, about 72,000 tons, compared to 73,000 tons in March. Other sources of April HRC imports included Canada (about 50,000 tons), Japan (about 18,000 tons), the Netherlands (about 11,000 tons) and Egypt (7,200 tons).
