India's Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) is facing a severe shortage of coking coal. Most of the coking coal used by the steel plant is imported from Australia and transported to the Gangavaram port. Due to the worker's strike at the port, the steel plant is unable to obtain raw materials.
Currently, there are about 220,000 to 225,000 tons of coking coal belonging to RINL at the port. The company is actively seeking solutions to ensure that the operations of the steel plant are not affected. The plant's utilization rate has dropped by 80%. If the problem continues to be unresolved, the coke oven will be forced to shut down, and the company may face a huge loss of Rs.20,000 crores.
