The Russian government declared that it will reintroduce export duties on coal. The new duty will be effective from March 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
The duty will range between 4% to 7% depending on the exchange rate of the national currency. However, if the rate is below 80 rubles per U.S. dollar, the tax will not be levied.
Similar measures were implemented from October 1, 2023, but it was canceled in December 2023 in order to support Russian coal exports.
