Mexican scrap import value plunges in Aug y-o-y

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) of Mexico, in August, Mexican scrap import value plunged by 98.3% year on year to US$1 million, which was the lowest monthly value in the past 30 years.
In the first eight months of 2023, the scrap import value amounted to US$725 million, a year-on-year decrease of 28.6%.
Regarding exports, Mexican scrap export value in August grew by 40.2% year on year to US$46 million. From January to August, the scrap export value fell by 17.2% year on year to US$304 million.
