US’ HRC imports increase in Aug m-o-m

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, in August, US’ hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports were about 156,000 tons, increasing by 16.9% month on month but decreasing by 17.2% year on year. Meanwhile, the import value was around US$148 million.
Among them, Canada was the main US’ HRC import source, with about 80,000 tons, dropping by 7.8% from the previous month and plunging by 23.3% from the same month a year ago. The followings were Japan (about 17,000 tons), South Korea (about 16,000 tons), the Netherlands (about 14,000 tons) and Mexico (about 11,000 tons).
