In August, steel production from Belgian steel enterprises went down by 23.5% month on month to about 461,000 tons. Belgium has five steel plants, including one blast furnace and four electric arc plants.
In the first eight months of this year, Belgian steel output totaled 4.3 million tons, decreasing by 9.5% from the same period a year ago. At the same period, the monthly average steel production totaled about 526,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13.2%.
