Gerdau celebrates 10-year flat steel production, new hot mill to be operational in 2024

Gerdau S.A. (Gerdau), one of the largest steelmakers in Brazil, celebrated a decade of operation for its flat steel production at the plant in Ouro Branco, Minas Gerais. The company said the hot coils produced in the ten years are equivalent to more than three circles around the earth if they are placed in a straight line.
Gerdau has recently announced that the company will invest in expanding the capacity of the hot strip mill, which was expected to start operations in 2024.
The expansion project will increase the Ouro Branco mill’s capacity by 250,000 tons per year, to meet demand from various industries, such as agribusiness, vehicle assemblers, oil and gas sector, and renewable energy field.
