US’ rebar imports soar in Jun m-o-m, y-o-y

According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US' rebar imports amounted to around 193,000 tons in June this year, surging by 172% compared to the previous month and by 94% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Algeria occupied the largest share, totaling roughly 94,000 tons, a month-on-month surge of more than 1,200% and a year-on-year jump of 165%. Other primary import sources included Egypt (34,200 tons), Turkey (30,400 tons), and Mexico (23,300 tons).
During the period, the value generated by these imports was around US$123 million, soaring by 158% month on month and up by 18% year on year.
