Canada implements trade measures to protect local steel industry

The Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA) said that the Government of Canada and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)'s use of Canada's trade remedy toolbox is beneficial for the domestic steel industry because thousands of tons of foreign steel are entering the Canadian market.
These recently completed reinvestigations on corrosion-resistant steel and rebar, the US$6.1 million retroactive duty assessment in line pipe, and the finding of a particular market situation in Turkey showed that Canada tried to make the local steel industry avoid unfair trade.
