Japan’s crude steel & pig iron output grows in Mar m-o-m

According to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan's crude steel output totaled around 7.5 million tons in March this year, rising by 8.2% compared to the previous month and falling by nearly 6% from the same month a year ago.

During the period, Japan produced around 5.4 million tons of pig iron, a month-on-month hike of 7.6% and a year-on-year decrease of 6.2%.

In the first three months of this year, Japan’s crude steel production dropped by 6% year on year to 21.6 million tons, and pig iron output dropped by 6.4% year on year to 15.7 million tons.
