India to increase production of green steel

According to Union Steel Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Indian government may push up steel mills to dedicate a percentage of steel production to making green steel.
Besides, the steel ministry is also aligning policies with the government’s Gati Shakti Master Plan, which has an outlay of Rs 100 lakh crore for infrastructure development, which can help boost demand for steel in various sectors.
Scindia also indicated that India has aimed to reach carbon neutrality by 2070. The usage of scrap steel for recycling is nearly 25 million tons each year, which can also be raised to make the industry a circular one.
