Japan’s Nippon Steel plans to set up world’s largest steel mill in Odisha, India

Japan’s Nippon Steel announced that it planned to construct the world’s largest steel plant in Odisha, India. The capacity will be about 30 million tons per year.
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), the joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel in India, signed an agreement with the Odisha government in 2021 to invest US$6 billion to set up a 12 mtpa integrated steel plant.
Besides, AM/NS India also obtained approval for an additional 7 mtpa steel plant with an investment of US$46 million in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
