South 32’s coal production grows in Q4 2022 q-o-q, y-o-y

South32, a mining and metals company headquartered in Australia, reported that its coal production totaled around 1.7 million tons in the fourth quarter of last year, rising by 9% compared to the previous quarter and by 38% from the year-ago level.
Among them, the output of metallurgical coal was up by 17% quarter on quarter and by 24% year on year to 1.5 million tons, and that of thermal coal dropped by 22% quarter on quarter but jumped by nearly 290% year on year to 253,000 tons.
South 32 had a target of reaching coal production of 7 million tons in the fiscal year 2023, including 6 million tons of metallurgical coal and 1 million tons of thermal coal.
