ArcelorMittal, the world’s leading steelmaker based in Luxembourg, said that its EBITDA dropped sharply from EUR 5.05 billion to EUR 1.26 billion in the fourth quarter of last year, but it was still in line with the forecast. With this result, the company expected its steel shipments will grow by approximately 5% in 2023.
Meanwhile, the company also foresaw a recovery of 2% to 3% this year in the global steel demand, excluding China. Aditya Mittal, the Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal, said that customer destocking reached a peak in the second half of last year, which supported apparent steel consumption and steel spread.
