Turkey's port of Iskenderun and steel mills stopped operating after the severe earthquake happened in southern Turkey. A large fire burned at the port's container terminal. Fortunately, steelmakers' facilities and port terminals only faced a little damage.

Three Turkish steel plants in Osmaniye will evaluate in the next few days whether trucks are available to carry material from the port to the steel mill. Highways in the Hatay region close to Iskenderun were closed due to the earthquake.

Also, steelmaking operations in the region faced disruption to natural gas supplies and other energy infrastructure. It is still unsure how long the operations would be halted.
