Turkey’s scrap imports decrease in Jan-Oct y-o-y

According to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkey imported around 18.3 million tons of scrap in the first ten months of this year, falling by 10.4% compared to the same period a year ago. The import value during the period was approximately US$8.8 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.4%.
Among them, the top three import sources were the EU (around 9.6 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 9.1%), the US (around 3.5 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 16%), and the UK (around 1.6 million tons, a year-on-year decline of 18.7%).
In October alone, Turkey’s scrap imports totaled roughly 1.5 million tons, rising by 5.1% compared to the previous month but falling by 7.5% from the same month a year earlier.
