Turkey’s steel exports to Baltic countries increase because of EU’s sanctions against Russia

The Turkish Steel Exporters Association (CIB) indicated that because of EU’s sanctions against Russia, Turkey’s steel exports to Baltic countries increased. In the first nine months of this year, Turkey’s steel exports to Estonia and Latvia hiked by 4.9 times and 30% year on year to about 70,000 tons and 21,000 tons, respectively.
Turkish steel manufacturers forecasted that demand from European consumers would increase in 2023. Turkey was ranked seventh in world steel production. In 2021, Turkey’s steel output increased by 12.7% year on year to 40 million tons.
