Dongkuk Steel, a steel company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, declared its production in the third quarter. The rebar and section bar output was around 858,000 tons, decreasing by 3.8% year on year. The cold-rolled products were 327,000 tons, falling by 17.2 from the same period a year ago. The production of steel plates totaled 182,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 4%.
Dongkuk indicated that the decreasing rebar and section bar output was because the sales to the construction industry went down. Besides, low demand from electrical equipment and real estate industries makes the cold-rolled product's production go down. Meanwhile, the sales of steel plates were stable due to high demand from the domestic shipbuilding industry.
