Corporación Nacional del Cobre (Codelco), the largest copper producer in the world and a state-owned copper mining company in Chile, reported that the company's pre-tax profit fell by 50.4% to US$2.606 billion in the January-September period, due to the impact of decreased copper prices and output at some mines.
During the period, the total copper production reached 1.06 million tons, down by 10% year on year.
Codelco lowered its copper output target to 1.465-1.435 million tons for this year, falling from 1.49-1.51 million tons estimated in August.
