US’ scrap exports hike in Aug m-o-m

According to statistics from the US International Trade Commission (USITC), the US exported around 1.4 million tons of scrap in August this year, hiking by nearly 5% compared to the previous month but dropping by 26% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the exports to Turkey accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 339,000 tons, a month-on-month surge of 132% and a year-on-year decrease of 16%. Other major destinations of US scrap exports included India (around 270,000 tons), Bangladesh (around 193,000 tons), Mexico (around 151,000 tons), and Taiwan (around 108,000 tons).
During the period, these exports were worth approximately US$554 million, up by 3.34% month on month and dropping by 38% year on year.
