POSCO's Pohang plant suffered flood damage after Typhoon Hinnamnor. However, the company is speeding up the return to normal operations, delaying scheduled maintenance, and minimizing customer losses.
For example, POSCO's Gwangyang Hot Rolling Plant No. 3 was scheduled for a two-week overhaul on September 23, but the damage caused by the floods shut down the Pohang plant. As a result, POSCO decided to suspend the maintenance of the No.3 hot rolling mill. Therefore, it would only have little impact on the supply of hot rolling.
However, the thick plate produced by the Pohang Plant accounts for a large proportion in the case of increasing shipbuilding demand, so it was expected that the supply of thick plates will be temporarily tight.
