The London Metal Exchange (LME) said it would immediately suspend access to two of its UK warehouses for Russian nickel unless the warehouses can prove the Russian export date is earlier than July 20.
The decision follows an April 1 resolution banning nickel and other Russian metals from UK warehouses, including copper, lead, primary aluminum, and aluminum alloys.
LME indicated that no Russian nickel is currently stored in UK warehouses in Hull and Liverpool. It also pointed out that anyone receiving Russian nickel from the UK could face high additional costs.
