India’s JSPL produces and sells more steel production in FY21-22

Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), a steel and energy company in India, reported that its steel output and sales reached 8.01 million tons and 7.63 million tons in the fiscal year 2021-22, hitting new highs, up by 7% and 5% year on year, respectively.

During the period, India’s crude steel production amounted to more than 120 million tons, a year-on-year hike of 16%. The consumption of finished steel was up by 11.1% to 105 million tons, and the export volume rose by 25% to 13.5 million tons due to strong demand in the world, both year on year.

According to the World Steel Association (worldsteel), the demand for steel in India was expected to grow by 7.5% to 114.1 million tons this year and by 6% next year, mainly boosted by new industrialization processes.
