US decides to increase import tariffs on Russian aluminum products

The US Congress decided to abolish the most favored nation status of Russia and Belarus and increase import tariffs on Russian aluminum products.
According to the proposal, the import tariffs on primary aluminum, aluminum sheet and plate, and aluminum foils will be raised from 0% to 25%, from 3% to 30%, and from 0% to 40%, respectively. Products under HS codes 76012090 and 76011060 will be imposed a duty rate of 10.5% and 11%, respectively.
In addition, two US senators also appealed to US President Joe Biden to remove the Section 232 tariffs on Ukraine, saying that will assist the country in economic recovery and post-war reconstruction.
