US’ rebar imports hike in Feb m-o-m, y-o-y

According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 139,200 tons of rebar in February this year, increasing by nearly 96% compared to the previous month and also rising by 80% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Algeria accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 69,800 tons, a month-on-month increase of 151.8%, and the volume was zero last February. Other main import sources included Mexico (around 31,500 tons), Turkey (around 24,100 tons), Canada (around 8,200 tons), and the Dominican Republic (around 5,000 tons).
During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$112 million, up by 85.5% month on month and 202.2% year on year.
