The Canadian Steel Producers Association (CSPA), the national voice for Canada's major steel and pipe industries, commented on the Canadian government's 2030 emissions reduction plan that two strategic projects in the steel industry have met the emission reduction levels of Canada's 2030 goals due to collaboration with all levels of government. They are to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 6 million tons per year by the end of this decade and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the industry by 40%.

This reduction plan identified some key steps forward, such as a clean electricity grid, carbon capture and storage, and the future role of hydrogen. However, CSPA called on the government to further unlock these new pathways by working with industry and others, including access, availability, and pricing.
