Aluminum and nickel were not the targets of the international sanctions after the Russia-Ukraine war. However, it was heard from the market that the LME will ban the trading of Russian metals, which was believed to impact seriously on the metals market.

In this regard, Adrian Farnham, LME Clear CEO, said that the LME has no plan to ban Russian metals from its trading platforms and the transactions will remain open because the sanctions setting is the responsibility of the government.

However, Adrian Farnham also said in a discussion on banning Russian metals that the LME would still listen to the industry which supports sanctions.
