The EU has expanded economic sanctions against Russia, and recently it banned steel imports from Russia. Therefore, the duty-free quota of 4.4 million tons of steel originally enjoyed by Russia has been canceled and will be allocated to other countries, of which Turkey will benefit the most, and China, India, South Korea, and Taiwan benefited as well. The new quota will be effective on April 1.
The products that will be reallocated included non-alloy and other alloy hot rolled sheets and strips, electrical sheets (other than GOES), non-alloy and other alloy quarto plates, non-alloy and other alloy merchant bars and light sections, rebars, railway materials, hollow sections, large welded tubes, other welded pipes, non-alloy and other alloy cold-finished bars, and non-alloy wire.
