Ivanhoe Mines kept working on a copper exploration program on the Western Foreland licenses in close proximity to Kamoa-Kakula.
Kamoa-Kakula’s copper output went over yearly guidance. This joint venture mining complex produced around 105,900 tons of copper concentrate in 2021, going beyond the revised guidance in a range from 92,500 tons to 100,000 tons for the year.
Kamoa-Kakula’s Phase 1 concentrator mill is on the way to start its operation in April. It will then double up its milling capacity to 7.6 million tons of ore yearly.
The project’s copper recoveries hiked from an average of 81% last July to a record high of 88.5% last December.
