Thailand's Iron and Steel Institute expects steel demand to grow in 2022

The Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand (ISIT) expected its steel market to grow by at least 5% in 2022 and has called for stronger government cooperation.
Institute chairman Nava Chantanasurakon pointed out that steel is the backbone of the manufacturing industry to be included in the government's circular economy plan.
Wirote Rotewatanachai, president of the institute, reported that steel consumption in the first 11 months of 2021 rose by 15% year on year to 17.3 million tons. Plate consumption increased by 22% and long products consumption hiked by 4%.
