In order to protect the domestic steel industry, India’s steel manufacturers are asking the government to consider the imposition of anti-dumping (AD) measures on steel imports.

India recently canceled AD duties on several steel imports due to rising prices in the domestic market. However, the move, which might bring dumped steel imports, triggered market concerns on possible disturbance on the domestic production and demand.

Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of JSW Steel, informed the Ministry of Finance about the main reasons for recent price hikes and the influence after revoking AD measures. He said that not only ferrous but also non-ferrous products are not allowed to be dumped into the Indian market.
