China's stainless steel output, imports, export rise in 2021

According to statistics from China’s Special Steel Enterprises Association, China's crude stainless steel production totaled roughly 30.6 million tons in 2021, hiking by 1.64% compared to the previous year. China's apparent consumption of stainless steel last year was up by 1.9% year on year to 26 million tons.
During the period, China imported around 2.9 million tons of stainless steel, up by 62.2% year on year. Among them, stainless steel billet accounted for 1.36 million tons, up by nearly 57% year on year, due to the higher import volume of cheaper billets from Indonesia due to more expansive stainless steel raw materials.
In terms of exports, the volume amounted to approximately 4.46 million tons, hiking by 30.6% year on year.
